I was referring to the imam, in this case.  A few more media breaks like
this and he could be a star.

Which authority are you referring to?  Other imams?

Meh, local rabble-rousers can usually trump the Voices of Moderation.
I'd imagine it's one of the first tricks they learn.  It's not about
broad cultural authoritarianism, so much as the good ol' fashioned
tribal-scale politics we were born with.
