I haven't seen anything particularly effective here on any level, but
then, I'm not sure our goals are identical.
My intent when confronting the religious or religious issues is
completely and only to be just as overtly contemptuous of religion
and just as oblivious to their sensitivities as I believe is
warranted. Period. That's it; that's the goal in and of itself for
my part. Whether or not that leads to any reflection, examination,
or reconsideration of religion on the part of those to whom I respond
in such a fashion is, in some sense, irrelevant; it's not up to me
in any case.
It's past time for the polite silence and pat complicity inherent in
social tolerance of religion. It's time be loud and obnoxious about
it. It's time to stand up and say "uh huh, well, I think you're
fucking insane, okay? I think you and people like you who believe
similar nonsensical crap are ruining humanity." Having said that,
mission accomplished from my perspective.
I've never said that religion is the only evil. But it is, indeed,
evil. (Substitute stupid, insane, dangerous, whatever...)
