I have used the linux version of handbrake and have seen the mac
screenshots of the same on that platform. It works well, produces nice
results and has a catchy beat http://handbrake.m0k.org/
My old standby though is dvd:rip http://www.exit1.org/dvdrip/
And when I am feeling perky enough to hit the command line raw and not
have a gui to help out I still use transcode in its pure form
http://www.transcoding.org/cgi-bin/transcode
Other items of noe dvd95 for ripping a dvd9 disc straight down to a
dvd5 one. good for those quick grabs http://dvd95.sourceforge.net/
There are others, to be sure, these are the ones I happen to use
enough to remember.
