After using Gnus for 12 years, I switched last year to "whatever my  
desktop gives me".  Gnus doesn't work well with IMAP when other  
clients access the same content.

Gnus is the power geek's reader and is superior in every way if you  
can get it configured.  I used to be able to read the top 10% of  
quality posts to comp.lang.python without having to see the bottom 90%.

I still spend most of my tube time within emacs, including most shell  
sessions, but it feels liberating each time I trash a page of elisp  
configuration that I wrote.
