China is officially a socialist country. It may even be written in
their constitution. But the China of late has been nothing but
capitalist. Free health care and free education are virtually gone.
Last I heard, schools in China are nothing but state sponsered daycare
centers. Teachers don't teach anything during regular school time.
They offer after school tutorials for outrageous fees and that's the
only time they will teach. Same goes for health care, the nominal fee
may be very low and it will get you waiting in line at the clinic. But
to get real treatment, you have to pay special fees in one form or
another.  Of course, if you can afford private school and private
clinic, you will get world class services.
