It can't do that, because then the MUA would pass the Turing test.
A human responder deletes redundancies, and only leaves enough
visible context to be relevant. The rest is available in the thread.

I don't get it, mutt uses color for text highlighting which can be nearly
or completely invisible for citations, if you so wish.
