[FoRK] Whither BEEP? Re: HTTP 0.2, 9p, and op

My $0.02 of speculation:

(1) BEEP didn't have a driving application, and SOAP had all the 
mindshare at the time for a generic "build on me!" message passing protocol.

(2) A major concern among protocol implementors at the time was a path 
through firewalls. Presumably BEEP didn't provide this.

(3) There was no business case (related to (1) above). How can you 
extract value from this protocol?
