The US consumes roughly one-quarter of the world's oil production. Any
US policy that dampens that also will dampen world oil prices. Ceteris
paribus. Canada exports a significant amount of oil. Nowhere near as
much as the US consumes, of course, and Canada has a quite diversified
economy. So it won't be much hurt by that. Then there is coal, which
Canada also exports.
You're right, though, that many Canadians will look at the other side of things.
