Well, more of the network is ran across guaranteed networks versus 
public switched networks.   In the past 10 years, they've switched from 
older style, higher quality codecs to slightly lesser quality, 
dramatically less bandwidth codecs in order to allow hundreds of calls 
per T1 versus tens resulting in massive equipment cost savings.

There are companies trying to do "HD" codecs for major conference calls 
with over 1,000 users or group meetings, but there's not a lot of demand 
for it.
