With the advent of MOCA (ethernet over coax, shared with existing cable) 
there's life left in RG6 coax.

Granted, that puts you back a bit into the stone age with shared access vs 
switches, but it's one way to get connectivity when all you have is a coax

Or is it just a waste of money, since every device these days supports
wireless, and many (phone, iPad, etc.) don't support CAT6 anyway?

Still planning on cable drops for TV. I wonder how quickly that will
seem obsolete.
