Charles Stross had a nice automatic bus system + auction-based routing (you
could pay extra to get the bus to pick you up off the main route, with the
price going higher if other people wanted the bus to be more of an express,
etc.).

Perhaps self-driving car + zipcar rentals  ==> driverless taxi/flexible
transportation for non-drivers (kids, old people. etc.) in the off-hours?
