Perhaps Atom plugins will work.  Did they turn off the Atom repository plugin installation?  If so, you might try it in Atom, then 
figure out how to install it locally.

I use one of the Emacs modes.  Not too bad, but some things are broken, like successive ^-k (kill-line).
