IONA Technologies will be launching the 1997 OrbixAwards for University
based research on October 1st, 1996.
The ultimate aim of this OrbixAwards is to allow the academic world
conduct a level of research into distributed object technology that,
without the resources of this program, may not be possible. To this end,
the program provides academics with free software and technical support.
There are also commercialisation, publication, travel and substantial
financial benefits. The program is due to be launched on the 1st October
and the award period will run until the following May.

IONA would like to contact your computing department to see how we can
involve your students. Are there any departmental magazines that we
could advertise in? Is there a specific contact we could send our
brochure to? We envisage that the OrbixAwards Program will be of
interest to final year Computer Science BSc and MSc students.
