AS Myboy scout compadres would say at such instances "chose you for the
big pieces"

Now here is something to realy puke over....
WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) - Senator John Ashcroft said Tuesday
he would oppose legislation requiring a government "back door" into
all coded computer information.
"Americans must be free to communicate privately, without the
government listening in," Ashcroft said in a statement released here.
"The privacy concerns here are fundamental and call for serious
consideration by the Senate.

---Ashcroft is an old time religon sorta good old boy, lots bible thumping
hozzanahs and all that. Not that this action is bad, but simply that he
has in the past been on the side of LAw andOrder, of helping the
instituions of enforcement in many ways that seemed suspect in a
constitutional sense.

Now way the change of heart??? I am glad to have another voice of dissent
on this long standing issue of govermental stupidity (for a real good
indepth look at the issuse pick up (and get a work out for it becuase this
is a weighty book imn more ways than thought) Bruce Schneier's and David
Banisar's The Electronic Privacy Papers ..it should be on amazon).
