The "Camden Conference on Telecommunications : Reshaping American
Communities" is being held next month. Why did I only just hear about
this thing (from Cox's page at http://www.virtualschool.edu/mon)?! It's
sold out already. Anybody going? Anybody scalping? 8-)

Cox, DeMarco, Dyson, Gilder, Metcalfe, Negroponte, Varian. Wow.

BobM writes on the main page;

"John Sculley and I are graduates of Silicon Valley who now spend a
lot of our time on the Maine Coast in Camden.
Last summer we got
to talking about how advanced
telecommunications, especially the
Internet, were making it possible for us to
stay more and more in
Maine. Not only that, but also about how
telecommunications are
changing life for more and more people in
communities like
Camden, away from the urban hustle and bustle.
So, we started
organizing a conference around various aspects
of these subjects -
convergence, democratization, commerce, the
nature of work,
education, entertainment and culture. Then we
began inviting
people we'd like to spend a long fall weekend
with in Maine talking
about how telecommunications are reshaping
American
communities. And you've been saying, Yes! We
look forward to
seeing you in October, Maine's best month."
