While Xcelera's financial shenanigans are certainly worrisome, the article's
dissing of Mirror Image seems unfair and inaccurate. We've talked a few
times with them and they know what they're talking about. I also doubt that
Exodus would have made a major investment in them based on pure hype, given
that there's no shortage of hype-filled service providers in the
caching/distribution space right now and that Exodus already had a
substantial commercial relationship with Akamai.
And it's genuinely bizarre to assert that Mirror Image must be somehow bogus
because the Boston investing community overlooked them. What, VCs never make
mistakes? Spare me.
I think Xcelera might well be a house of cards, but the people at Mirror
Image in Woburn seem to be on the level.
